Who We Are

  • Griffin Original Production’s vision is to produce original works of theatre, screen, art and writing by supporting creative artists, especially playwrights and screenwriters, of all ages, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, social background, experience level and skill, on subjects of feminism, LGBTQIA+ experiences, mental health, power, equality,  class and society, that otherwise would not have a place to be produced and showcased.

  • ·       Inclusivity of people of all ages, genders, sexuality, social backgrounds, ethnicity, experience level and skill.

    ·       The richness of North West Tasmanian creatives, with a focus on supporting those works from people who live in that area, followed by the remainder of Tasmania and the rest of Australia.

    ·       Commitment to as high a standard of work as possible that all involved can be proud of.

    ·       Griffin Original Productions values an attitude of hard work and determination over a desire for perfection, or commercial success. A willingness to try, to learn and to grow are key to our success as a company.

    ·       Independent story telling with a focus on works that explore themes of feminism, LGBTQIA+ experiences, mental health, power, equality, class and society.

    ·       Acknowledgment of and payment of what people are due for their work as much as possible and where possible in the confines of an independent company, such as rates, honorariums and profit share arrangements.

    ·       The hard work of creative people and will not knowingly engage in practises that profit from others work unacknowledged and or uncompensated.

    ·       Sustainability and ingenuity, making the most of the physical resources in a way that is cognizant of the environment and Griffin Original’s impact thereon.

    ·       Collaboration with those who work directly with Griffin Original Productions as well as the greater North West theatre community in which we are situated.

  • ·       To annually produce a piece of theatre that has been written by a playwright from the North West Tasmania region, Tasmania or Australia that is in line with the values of the company.

    ·       In the future to produce a piece of film work that has been written by a screenwriter from the North West Tasmania region, Tasmania or Australia that is in line with the values of the company.

    ·       To foster an environment where those who lack professional or educational qualifications can have their work evaluated, collaborated on and produced with artistic merit.

    ·       To support the North West Tasmanian theatre community and artistic community as much as possible, through sharing resources, experience and promoting work by other individuals and groups.

    ·       To become financially viable enough so that those engaged with Griffin Original Productions can be financially compensated as much as possible for their efforts.
